The Poker Industry

It's been three years since the first day I learned how to play Texas Holdem. I was a natural. I played poker with a league for a year until one day I gained an interest in dealing. I wondered what it would be like sitting in the dealers position.

So I called up one of the local poker companies and low and behold the poker company that I called was in the process of opening up their own school. They needed students, so I went.

So I learned the basics of dealing. One day one of my instructors called and told me that there was a position on the poker room floor at the Gulfstream Casino as a hostess and that I should apply, especially if I want to become a dealer. At least I'll have my foot in the door and the staff would get familiar with me. After a while they'll give me an audition. He said that for every dealer that graduates there are already 40 waiting in line for a job.

So I got hired as a hostess and soon I was able to audition. I switch back and forth, like pinch hitter. So three nights a week I'm either a hostess on the poker room floor or a dealer.
